I guess getting married isn't the only big change a
comin'. I'm going to be a Jersey girl! Er, transplant anyway. One day in the very near future I'm going to wake up in a new home, in a new town, with a new name, and possibly find myself behind the wheel of a large automobile (with all weather tires). And I may ask myself, well, how did I get here? Like whoa.
Thusly, I've compiled lists of things I will and will not miss and things I am and am not looking forward to because, well, I love lists, and because my sweetie left to pave the way last week and I have nothing to do in his absence except for things I am avoiding doing. So, here we go.
Things I will miss about California:
- my sister
- my family and friends
- the weather
- sunsets on the beach
- the ubiquitous avocado (Yes! I WOULD like to add it for $.50 extra.)
- Mexican restaurants on every corner
- Los Angeles
- the Hat
- U-turns
Things I will not miss about California:
- taxes
- traffic
- earthquakes
- foxtails
- neck tattoos
- maternity booty shorts
Things I am looking forward to in New Jersey:
- being with my sweetie again
- my sweetie's family
- full service gas stations
- leopard print extravaganza
- tomatoes and peaches
- snowy Christmases
- trips to NYC
- colonial houses with black shutters
- the possibility of running into Caroline Manzo
Things I am not looking forward to about New Jersey:
- packing. moving. unpacking. ugh.
- humidity
- shoveling snow
- 6 months of cold
- mosquitoes
- long plane rides home to visit
East coast, hear I come! I'm watching Good Will Hunting to gear up. I know it's the wrong state, but gawd, I love this movie and its Elliott Smith-a-
thon soundtrack! Shexshy!
Wedding plans, I hope to see you again soon, but I've bigger fish to fry right now, such as finding a home and practicing giving the finger.
Wow! That is a big move! Wishing you the best of luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Caroline!
